Criminal Minds season 13 episode 2 spoilers: Assessing the aftermath
Criminal Minds season 13 episode 2 synopsis – “The BAU investigates three similar crimes in which victims’ remains are discovered in old suitcases.”
In a sense, you can argue that the real story here is that CBS isn’t sharing much, and that means in turn that the show is going back to what they’ve done so much of over the years: Procedural, case-of-the-week stories that freak people out until justice is achieved. There are some people — us included — who actually really liked it when the show took some bigger swings with Spencer Reid and some other characters, but we also recognize that this is not always within the series’ DNA and it’s not what everyone wants. (Not everyone out there was the biggest fan of the Reid arc that we saw at the end of this past season.)
The biggest thing that the show should just be aware of as it gets back into the groove is to find new twists on their cases, and at least try to keep things as modern as possible. We know that the show can’t rely too much on current events when it comes to syndication, but we do want to see some evolution. A case from the BAU in 2017 should not look exactly the same as a case from the BAU in 20017. We want to create some other chaos that you don’t necessarily see coming. Hopefully, it’s fun, dramatic, and everything that you’ve come to love about the show. One of the other things that we’re curious about learning tomorrow are the ratings for the show, given that with its new 10:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot, we do expect the numbers to fall slightly — we just hope that it stays relatively constant given that we want to see the show to stick around on the show for many more years to come.
