Suits season 7 finale: How will Jeff Malone factor into Jessica’s story?
In the end, though, executive producer Aaron Korsh notes that there are a multitude of reasons why we haven’t seen too much off Jeff Malone now, and why we may not see a whole lot of him even in the event the spin-off show does come to fruition. Take a look at his comments below via TVLine:
“Some of it is we just haven’t visited her in Chicago and spent time with her in Chicago … In our minds, they’re still together, and we’re still formulating how that’s going to work in the spinoff. D.B. Woodside is a series regular on [Lucifer], so it’s not like we have 100 percent access to him. So we’re still trying to figure out what to do about that in terms of the spinoff.”
It’s probably all the more difficult that Woodside films his show in Los Angeles, whereas Suits to date is filming in Toronto. The filming location for the Jessica spin-off has not been confirmed as of yet, but we’d be lucky to get Jeff more than an episode or two of that. Hopefully, that doesn’t mean that the show is just going to break him and Jessica up, but they would have to get creative.
What else is known about the Jessica spin-off?
As of right now, early indications are that it will be more political in nature than Suits proper, and that makes more sense than ever now that we’ve seen the season 7 summer finale for the USA show. As you can see in our review at CarterMatt here, Jessica’s legal career is pretty much nonexistent now in New York. She’s in a position where she does need to start looking forward at what she wants the rest of her life to be. She went to Chicago in order to get a fresh start, so maybe she will relish this opportunity and try to do something new and very much exciting.
