Once Upon a Time season 7 spoilers: About Adelaide Kane’s Drizella

While we’ve heard a great deal about Gabrielle Anwar’s Once Upon a Time character of Lady Tremaine, we haven’t dived into Adelaide Kane’s Drizella. That’s a shame, given that she should be a rather fun addition to the show … even if she’s got a flair for all things wicked. She’s a daughter of Tremaine’s, and also will likely be a major thorn in the side of Cinderella (Dania Ramirez) during the time in which they spend together.

So how does the former Reign star herself describe this character? That is something that Kane describes with the following quote to Entertainment Weekly:

“My slogan for [Drizella] is buttoned up and b–chy … She seems like a very high-strung, slightly ditzy young woman and she’s just very petty and she’s like that awful bully in high school except that she doesn’t know how to win people to her side, so she’s just alone, snappy, snarky, sarcastic and miserable all the time.”

Basically, this should be a really fun role for Kane to take on given that it’s so different from the Mary she played on the CW series for so many years. You’re going to get a chance here to see her play pure evil, or at least evil through a deluded lens. She’s out to cause a lot of trouble to those close to her, and we imagine that there’s going to be a lot of entertainment that comes in turn out of that as we see her go toe to toe with some other characters. Even though she has this rich fairy-tale background, the photo above does effectively show that she will have a part to play in Hyperion Heights, the new version of Storybrooke that effectively serves as a neighborhood in Seattle. While there, you will see more of how similar she may be to many people today, entitled and obsessed with preserving her own self-interest to such a level that it causes her to lose sight of virtually anything that matters. The fairy-tale characters here are mixed in with everyday men and women, so it’s possible that Drizella finds herself having quite a bit in common with some of the people around her. She may even think she is one of them, given that as a result of the new curse, there is no guarantee she will even remember who she actually was in her previous life. One of the major mysteries at the heart of season 7 will be who is responsible for putting these characters in such a predicament in the first place.
