Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders first look released
The first look includes some behind the scenes looks plus an interview with star Edie Falco where she shares her thoughts about the actual murders and the show. Falco stars as Leslie Abramson, the defense attorney who represents the Menendez brothers. Erik and Lyle Menendez are played by Gus Halper and Miles Gaston Villanueva, respectively.
The first look begins by showing the audience a photo of two small boys and their parents looking happy and like your perfect American family. The photo then dissolves to show the boys grown and angry as they approach their parents with weapons. We then hear a phone recording of one of the boys saying that someone killed their parents before flashing the opening banner of the show indicating this is going to be interesting ride.
From the first look begins to plant ideas in the audience heads almost as to confuse them and make them question what is the real story behind the murders. Edie Falco comes on screen to say that she thought she the story of the Menendez brothers but there was also things she didn’t.
The first look also tells the audience that it isn’t looking to solve the murders because we know who committed the murders, but the show looks to answer the why. For instance, the series will show the verbal abuse the brothers suffered at the hand of their father leading the audience to believe that this could be one of the avenues of the storytelling that is going to knock everyone out of their seats.
Shows similar to Law & Order: True Crime are incredibly interesting because they give the audience a new perspective of a story most people know very well. While dramatized sometimes to keep the audience coming back, most of the action is true.
Dick Wolf’s new series seems worth checking out and who knows maybe, like Falco, you’ll learn something you didn’t know before.
Law and Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders is set to premiere Tuesday, September 26, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, following the season 2 premiere of This Is Us.
