Once Upon a Time season 7: Cinderella poster puts Dania Ramirez front & center
Below (via Entertainment Weekly), you can take a look at a poster that reminds us very clearly that the network is not just going to be bringing you a traditional Cinderella story here — not in the slightest! This shows you what may very well be a famed castle in the background, while Dania Ramirez as the aforementioned character is riding on a motorcycle in the foreground. Motorcycles are somewhat indicative of freedom and a rough-around-the-edges nature on this show — August was known for riding around on one, and you could eventually see the same thing for some other characters. It’s a chance for them to explore open roads and places that they were not able to do previously, and part of the excitement there stems just from the fact that it’s a very different sort of experience than one that they are accustomed to. These characters are often more sedentary, and remain in one place saved for the occasional carriage ride.
While many official details are still a tad sketchy, it has been confirmed already that Ramirez is a series regular on the show; with that, she’s going to be a major part of the upcoming seventh season. There is also talk about her having a connection of some sort to adult Henry (Andrew J. West), who will be somewhat of a recluse and far from the truest believer when the show encounters him in the season 7 premiere. We’re getting somewhat of a reset to the very first season — his daughter Lucy is going to arrive to his home, and use him in order to embark on a new mission. There’s a new curse, a new setting in Seattle’s Hyperion Heights, and also an opportunity to get to know some new iterations of some established fairy-tale favorites. We definitely don’t feel as though Once Upon a Time is trying to recreate everything that they’ve done before, but we do think that one of their primary missions this season is to remix familiar tales while bringing in some new ones at the same time. This enables them to touch more on stories, such as with Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland, that were only briefly touched on in the past.
As the Cinderella poster indicates for those who are not aware, Once Upon a Time season 7 is moving over to a new night starting on Friday, October 6, where it will be airing starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. We at CarterMatt are a little nervous about the timeslot for the show (Fridays aren’t often the best for series with young audiences), but we do think the new version is worthy of a shot. After all, it’s been done by the same people who are responsible for giving us the magic of the first season to begin with.
