SNL alums Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen to produce Amazon comedy
According to TV Guide, the Saturday Night Live alums are executive producing a new series that was given a straight-to-series order for the untitled project. The series will be a half-hour comedy and will also star Rudolph and Armisen. Writers and creators Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard will also serve as executive producers alongside Dave Becky and Tim Sarkes. The premise of the show has not been disclosed.
However, while little is known about the series, it will no doubt be hilarious. The duo has best known for their Saturday Night Live skits and were often received as the funniest from the episode. This pairing also works extremely well because they can work together and when they do they’re successful.
For example, on Saturday Night Live, the two created a funny skit where they created a couple from an unspecified Scandinavian country, who have unplaceable accents and bewilderingly foreign manners. The couple were art dealers and their bizarre interior decorating schemes result in the confusion. It was a hit among audiences and received well by people.
Rudolph is also a comedy queen having starred in the successful comedies including Bridesmaids, Sisters, and Maya & Marty. Armisen has been apart of Portlandia, The Lego Ninjago Movie, as well as the upcoming Battle of the Sexes.
The pair will also star together in Cabiria, Charity, Chastity which follows “Chastity (Maya), on a surreal journey through a parallel plane, as she discovers that in order to face her future, she must first reconcile her Vaudevillian past.” The project will be released on Kenzo’s website in September.
Basically by putting these comedy powerhouse the result is sure to be a great one. We have high hopes for this untitled project, but we also know that if anyone can pull it off it’s Rudolph and Armisen.
As we mentioned above that very little is known about the project we will keep everyone informed so that when we know you know too. So stay tuned for more information.
