Designated Survivor season 2 spoilers: Former Parenthood star to be involved!
According to a new report coming in right now via Deadline, you are going to get a chance to see on the upcoming season Parenthood alum Bonnie Bedelia settle in for a recurring role alongside Kiefer Sutherland and the rest of the top-level cast. There is always a great deal of stuff going on with this show, but with her in particular you could see her work to bring in a little more of a personal touch. Her role, after all, is that of President Kirkman’s mother-in-law Eva Booker. She lost her husband 20 years ago, but she did not lose much of her spirit. She remains very much devoted to both her daughter as well as her grandchildren, and to go along with that more, she’s someone who Kirkman knows is always in her corner. You know how there are many in-laws out there who do love to throw shade and you never quite know if they’re in your corner? Well, that’s not necessarily the case here. She will support him to the ends of the earth.
One thing that does probably also help the relationship between the two parties here is the fact that there is such a close relationship between Eva and the White House given her own history in politics. She was a secretary for most of her life to a Department of Defense Contracting officer, so she was always connected to the Cabinet in some capacity. She had a chance to see some of how government works, and she may be as surprised as anyone about the circumstances that eventually did lead to Kirkman taking on this position as the most powerful person in all of America.
For those wondering, her husband was a salesman for much of his life.
What will her role be?
Maybe she will serve as a valuable support system to the President and Alex Kirkman, or find some other ways to get involved in the White House. With her experience and her status as a devoted confidante, she is doing everything that she can in order to make this world and the White House the best working environment that it can possibly be. We do know that, in general, we’re going to see a White House over the course of Designated Survivor season 2 that is a little more like The West Wing than what we saw the first time around. there’s still be some elements of the first season still there, but this show, like many other that is on the air, must continue to find new ways to evolve.
