Agents of SHIELD season 5 spoilers: Nick Blood returning as Lance Hunter
As first noted by Entertainment Weekly, Blood is poised to return as one-time mercenary and also one-time Agent Lance Hunter for at least one episode. This marks the first time that we’ve seen him since the third season, where he and Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) found themselves on the run. At the time, this was poised to be the premise for a new spin-off series entitled Marvel’s Most Wanted, but this was one of two high-profile Palicki pilots that didn’t see the light of day. (The other one was the ill-fated TV version of Wonder Woman, which is now of course a big-budget feature film starring Gal Gadot as the title character.)
While we’d love to see Bobbi back on SHIELD at some point in the future, the odds of that happening appear relatively low given that she does have another gig out there at the moment in The Orville on Fox alongside Seth MacFarlane. These two shows are on separate networks, and that probably makes the odds of a return a little less likely. Maybe later in the spring when The Orville filming is done there’ll be a chance for something more to happen here.
Hunter in general is one of our favorite past characters, and any chance to get him back on the show is one we’re going to celebrate. It goes without saying, but the same goes here for Robbie Reyes a.k.a. Ghost Rider, though our bigger surprise there is why someone at ABC hasn’t just gone ahead and greenlit some sort of spin-off featuring that character, given just how awesome and powerful he proved himself to be?
We are unfortunately still going to have to wait a little while longer for Agents of SHIELD season 5 to air in its new time-slot Friday nights at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. One of the biggest reasons for this is Marvel’s Inhumans, (its other new series) is airing on Fridays starting later this month. That’s a little frustrating, but we are excited to see this show when it premieres. We’re also curious if there could be some sort of connectivity between these two shows coming up in the future? That could be a lot of fun to see play out in a world where TV crossovers have become big events.

We think that you should head over to the link here to read a little bit more news on the show, including some insight into the show’s New York Comic-Con panel. That will take place next month, and could lead to some of the first substantial footage finally starting to come out for the show. (Photo: ABC.)
