The Walking Dead season 8 video: Norman Reedus, cast celebrate 100 episodes

Norman Reedus

The Walking Dead season 8 is premiering on AMC later this fall, and whether you are one of the stars like Norman Reedus or a fan of the show watching it at home (like the entire CarterMatt team!), there’s a lot to celebrate. It’s a huge achievement for any show to make it to eight seasons, just like it’s a huge achievement to get to 100 episodes as well. There aren’t many cable shows that get a chance to reach this milestone, so when it happens, you know it means a lot to everyone working on the show as well as all of us invested in it.

Think for a moment about everything that The Walking Dead has enabled its cast and crew to do — they’ve attended conventions all over the world, emotionally impacted people, and even inspired them. It’s odd for there to be so many positive things that come out of a show about battling zombies and a slew of horrible human beings (we’re looking at you Negan), but many things in life are rather fun and unexpected in that sort of way.

The video below is a special thank-you to all of the fans who have been with the show through this entire journey.  Within the message, you have a chance to see what Reedus, Andrew Lincoln, Lauren Cohan, and so many others have to say about being a part of this show over the years. You do get a tremendous sense of gratitude from them while they talk more about some of their memories. In many ways, it doesn’t even matter whether you are talking about someone who has been with the series since the beginning or someone who just recently signed on. It has impacted the lives of everyone, offered up more acting opportunities, and allowed them to make countless friends.

One other reason to be excited about this announcement is that it’s possible that there could be many more episodes of the show to come. For some 100th episode shows it’s the beginning of the end; however, there’s still a chance that this show could last for a while longer when you think about how it’s managed to remain the #1 show on TV in adults 18-49 and how they continue to find a way to create big, shocking moments. We’re not sure how they are going to be able to top the shocking season 7 premiere with Negan, but wherever there’s a will, isn’t there often a way?

The Walking Dead season 8 premiere is going to revolve around the all-out-war storyline made famous in the comics, one that will feature Negan and the Saviors taking on Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom. Be prepared for things to get a little bit gory…
