Dancing with the Stars 25: Bobby Brown opts again joining show last-minute

For a moment, it appeared as though Dancing with the Stars 25 was going to be filling its role of controversial star with Bobby Brown. However, it just so turns out that this isn’t going to be the case.

According to a report from Us Weekly (via a source), “Bobby Brown was originally slated to be on this new season of DWTS, but recently pulled out.” There was not a specific reason given for why Brown would have opted against doing the show, and it feels surprising from his vantage point. The New Edition singer isn’t really in the headlines for a lot of stuff right now, though he was for some time thanks to what happened to the late Whitney Houston and also the tragedy surrounding his daughter with her in Bobbi Kristina.

The thing that surprised us more is why Dancing with the Stars was really all that interested in Brown in the first place, given that there are many people out there who aren’t exactly his biggest fan for many reasons. He is a talented singer, but we also don’t quite feel like that was going to translate all that much to being a good dancer. Older male stars don’t often fare all that well on this show, even someone who has a history of performing.

With Bobby not on the show, the producers will have to find someone else to fill the role in what is an ever-expanding roster of reported Stars. Property Brothers star Drew Scott is the only person officially confirmed, but other reported additions include Nick and Vanessa Lachey, Nikki Bella, actor Jordan Fisher, NBA superstar Derek Fisher, Shark Tank personality Barbara Corcoran, former America’s Got Talent and YouTube sensation Lindsey Stirling, and former paralympic swimmer and ESPN host Victoria Arlen. If all of these people end up being confirmed as a part of the new season, that only leaves one or two spots for some other performers. We may have to wait for a while longer to see who some of these people are, given that this is Labor Day Weekend and we don’t exactly think of this as the time that a whole lot more casting rumors come out through the woodwork.
