Nick Viall not interested in Bachelor, Bachelor in Paradise after Vanessa Grimaldi breakup
Speaking in a new interview with Us Weekly days after his engagement to Vanessa came to a close, the four-time series star (which included two stints on The Bachelorette before Bachelor in Paradise and then The Bachelor) made it clear that he was over being on this sort of reality TV:
“I’m definitely done with that … I’m very thankful for everything. I don’t have regrets. I don’t have any regrets. There are still a lot of positive things that came from it, especially my relationship with Vanessa.”
Do we think that this is the wisest move? Probably, but we’re also not setting anything in stone just yet given that Nick has indicated in the past that he didn’t have any intention of doing Bachelor in Paradise in the first place. Time can change things, but in this instance we do believe it’s over. We don’t think he’s suddenly going to find long-lasting love and a marriage through being on television, given that he’s had so many chances to do that. Also, at a certain point it starts to feel more like desperation and that could come across the other people on the show and to viewers. While The Bachelor and especially Paradise do at times have a feeling like they’re treading over familiar ground way too many times, they eventually always do move forward. The Nick era of the franchise should be over, and they should go with more unfamiliar faces with some of their shows.
Of course, we say that knowing full well that one of the favorites to be the next Bachelor in Wells Adams, a guy who has appeared on three different shows in the franchise. Yet, even with him there is a sentiment that he is bringing something new to the table and hasn’t been the victim of overkill. Heck, on this season of Bachelor in Paradise he’s serving as the bartender! The other main contender to be the next Bachelor is Peter Kraus, a guy you’ve only seen on one edition of the franchise — though there is some serious doubt out there as to whether or not you would see him again.
Kudos to Nick, in the end, for keeping things positive on Vanessa and not having anything negative to say about her.
Could we see Nick on other shows in the future?
We’re not doubting it, since this is a guy who’s also done now Dancing with the Stars — when you think of his cumulative ABC reality show appearances, we don’t think anyone has appeared in as many, and with as much screen time, as he has.
What do you think: Is Nick’s time on the Bachelor franchise really over? This is where we want to hear from you!
