Ratings: Queen of the South, The Fosters, and Suits season 7
Ready for a new ratings update piece? Today we’re looking at Queen of the South, The Fosters, and Suits season 7 … and there’s a lot to touch on.
Let’s start today’s edition off with a Queen of the South discussion. This past episode of the show generated a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic (even with the previous episode) and then also 1.24 million viewers. While Teresa may be struggling in the midst of a battle with Camila at the moment, the show is riding pretty darn high. This is the best performance from the show in viewers since June 15, so obviously there are many people out there bracing for a conclusion.
Also worth noting: As of right now, season 2 is down less than 2% in the demo versus season 1. That is, to use a single word to describe it, incredible. There’s a good reason why USA went ahead and gave the show a second season even though there are still some episodes to go.
Now, let’s dive into some news that is a little more of a mixed bag…
The Fosters – We are starting to get a little more concerned about the long-term future of this show on Freeform. While it posted a 0.2 rating on Tuesday that is better than many other shows on the network, you do also have to remember that this is the lowest demo rating in the show’s history. If it doesn’t turn some things around there, it’s possible that its future could be reduced to just another season or two.
Suits – Meanwhile, we turn to a USA series that is very much in an interesting spot. There’s a Gina Torres spin-off coming at the end of this season, the show is probably near the end of its run, and there are of course Meghan Markle questions. For the record, we haven’t heard a thing about her leaving, but we know the tabloids are going to swirl rumors there for obvious reasons.
We should point out the that the show matched its average for the season on Wednesday, posting a 0.4 and 1.35 million viewers. It’s not the huge summer hit it once was, but it performs well enough for USA to remain pleased.
Hopefully, there will be some renewal news on both Suits and The Fosters in the months to come — there is no need for an immediate announcement.
