Wynonna Earp season 3 spoilers: First teases on Wynonna’s mom

Moving into Wynonna Earp season 3, there are going to be many big stories — but none perhaps as big as Wynonna’s mom! In the closing minutes of the season 2 finale, we saw the title character pay her mother a visit in a rather surprising fashion. We haven’t heard too much about her as of late, and this could be an opportunity to learn more about her.

Yet, at the same time this could also be an opportunity for some more tension between the likes of Wynonna and Waverly, given that we may have a secret that the former has kept from the latter. In speaking further about the character and the show’s future, showrunner Emily Andras had the following to say to Entertainment Weekly:

“It’s shocking that Wynonna obviously knows where she is. It’s really interesting that Momma Earp has some sort of intel — not only into Waverly’s parentage but also the demon Bulshar. All we know for sure is she has the Earp hair. I hope fans spend the hiatus speculating who she is and what Wynonna knows about her.”

Andras apparently has a wishlist of some of the women she’d love to see play the character, with Sigourney Weaver and Lucy Lawless among them. One way or another, we’re sure that they will find someone pretty great for the role given that if you’re an actress who loves complicated storylines and the ability to kick a little bit of butt, this is probably a show that you’re going to want to enjoy.

There is obviously still a good bit of time between now and when the show returns, and in that time Andras and the rest of the producers can get more into casting and all of the other good stuff that they need to do in order to get season 3 of the show off the ground. There’s going to be a lot more to report on in the weeks/months to come, and we’re excited to get into much of that! We’re also grateful that Syfy granted the show an early renewal, which is something that they haven’t done with some other series in their lineup at the moment. We do consider the show’s success proof in some way that having a devoted social media following is a great way to leverage yourself towards getting more episodes down the road.
