Black Mirror season 4: Jesse Plemons, Jodie Foster and Andrew Gower are promises of a great season
So we have some first details for you about what to expect for Black Mirror season 4, but if you are looking for a premiere date, know that there still isn’t one. The trailer below just says it’s “coming soon”. We are hoping for November or December this year, but Netflix is keeping the actual date a secret still.
What we do have for you (outside of the trailer which doesn’t give much of anything away) are episode titles and a bit of casting and crew information for you – so let’s break these down a bit:
“Arkangel”: Cast: Rosemarie Dewitt (La La Land, Mad Men), Brenna Harding (A Place to Call Home), Owen Teague (Bloodline), Director: Jodie Foster, Written by: Charlie Brooker – It’s no surprise to see that Charlie Brooker is writing all of these episodes since he is the brains behind the whole operation. The cast for this episode has a lot of heavy hitters, but that director credit is what we are most interested in… Jodie Foster!
“USS Callister”: Cast: Jesse Plemons (Black Mass, Fargo), Cristin Milioti (The Wolf of Wall Street, Fargo), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld, House of Cards), Michaela Coel (Chewing Gum, Monsters: Dark Continent), Director: Toby Haynes (Dr Who, Sherlock), Written By: Charlie Brooker & William Bridges – If you don’t remember Jesse Plemons we suggest you go back even further then Fargo and check out his performance in Breaking Bad. That was the first role we ever saw him in (where we affectionately referred to him as Meth Damon), and he was terrifying. Add to that a Sherlock/Doctor Who director and this episode has all the makings of being the best in the bunch for us!
“Crocodile: Cast: Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Bloodline), Andrew Gower (Outlander), Kiran Sonia Sawar (Murdered By My Father), Director: John Hillcoat (Triple Nine, Lawless), Written By: Charlie Brooker – There are a lot of Bloodline actors on this Black Mirror season 4, but this episode is especially interesting to us because they have cast an actor from Outlander, which is arguably one of the hottest show on television right now. With all the time travel going on in Outlander, we could see that audience being interested in Black Mirror too, so this is a great way to bring some of those viewers over.
“Hang the DJ”, Cast: Georgina Campbell (Flowers, Broadchurch), Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders, Green Room), George Blagden (Versailles, Vikings), Director: Tim Van Patten (The Sopranos, Game of Thrones), Written By: Charlie Brooker – This is one heck of a cast especially when you see actors from shows like Broadchurch and Vikings! We’ve said it more then once here at CarterMatt, but it’s worth noting once more: Vikings is easily our favorite show on television, so to get any actor from it is a win. Having a director from two heavy hitter shows like Game of Thrones and The Sopranos makes this another episode that we are really looking forward to seeing.
“Metalhead” Cast: Maxine Peake (The Theory Of Everything, The Village), Jake Davies (The Missing, A Brilliant Young Mind), Clint Dyer (Hope Springs), Director: David Slade (Hannibal, American Gods), Written By: Charlie Brooker – Whenever we see someone from Hannibal working on a new show we can’t helped to get excited, and here we have Hannibal director David Slade on the docket. Hannibal is a favorite here at the site, so we have high expectations for this episode.
“Black Museum” Cast: Douglas Hodge (The Night Manager, Catastrophe), Letitia Wright (Humans, Ready Player One), Babs Olusanmokun (Roots, The Defenders), Director: Colm McCarthy, Written By: Charlie Brooker – We just finished watching The Defenders last weekend and it was the first time we had seen Babs Olusanmokun. Now that we know just how good he is, we can’t wait to see him in this episode. The very little we saw about this installment from the trailer makes us think that this will probably be the one with the most creep factor to it.
