Dancing with the Stars 25 spoilers: Nick, Vanessa Lachey reportedly competing

Vanessa Lachey

Well, apparently Dancing with the Stars is very much interested in getting a little bit of a rivalry among its contestants this year. After all, both Nick and Vanessa Lachey are coming on board!

As first reported by People Magazine, the former 98 Degrees singer Nick and his wife are close to official for the cast, and they could join such known names as Property Brothers star Drew Scott and Nikki Bella of Total Divas and the WWE’s Bella Twins. This is a solid cast so far when it comes to reasonably familiar faces; typically, we’d say that we know about 80% of the Stars per DWTS cast, and so far this seems to be shaping up to be similar.

There are all sorts of interesting factoids right now when it comes to this cast. For one, Nick is the brother of former Dancing with the Stars winner / occasional fill-in host Drew Lachey, who came back and competed on the All-Star version of the show. Meanwhile, they are the second married Stars to compete on the show at the same time. Previously, we saw this with Alexa and Carlos PenaVega.

In addition to seeing Nick Lachey in his aforementioned boy band, odds are you know him from hosting The Sing-Off, Newlyweds, or some other TV appearances here and there. Vanessa is a former beauty queen who hosted TRL on MTV for many years in addition to many entertainment talk shows. She has also done a number of acting gigs. The timing for the two of them feels right given that it’d be especially fun if they were paired with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd. If that happens, it would be the first time in show history that both married pro dancers and married contestants would be competing at the same time. Who wouldn’t be excited to check that out?

The full Dancing with the Stars cast is going to be unveiled in the days to come, and our anticipation is that we’ll probably get a couple of athletes, a couple of TV icons, and probably at least one controversial figure. Apparently, it won’t be Sean Spicer given that some of those talks, provided that they ever really existed, seem to have died down. (We’ve already made it personally clear that we would prefer it if there were not any politicians appearing on the show, mostly because they do have a tendency to be polarizing and cause anger among fans.)

In the end, we’re just glad to have some good news for a Nick and Vanessa today, given that former contestant Nick Viall and his fiancée Vanessa Grimaldi are officially no longer engaged.
