Shameless season 8: Richard Flood signs up for role
According to Deadline, Flood will star opposite William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum playing Ford, “a graduate of Yale School of Architecture, sometime freelance war photographer, ex-seminarian and enigma. He’s searching for a simpler life, and Fiona never makes anything simple.”
This definitely sounds like a new love interest is coming Fiona’s (Rossum) way. As fans know, Fiona has had many relationships with men who behave much like her father, so Flood’s character is a step in the opposite direction. It will be great to see how this accomplished young man will impact Fiona and how she will impact Ford. Like the old saying goes “opposites attract,” so this dynamic seems to have some promise to it.
It will also be great to see how the two will meet. We know that Fiona is now the owner of a new apartment building so that would be one way the two could cross paths. However, only the upcoming season will tell what will happen. The whole concept of Fiona owning an apartment building has set the show up with a way to introduce any guest stars and recurring characters, like Jessica Szohr’s Nessa.
Season 7 came to a close as the Gallaghers dealt with the loss of one of their own and grappled with mixed feelings about their grief. Meanwhile, Fiona once again has to take care of her father, Frank, in his time of need, all the while Frank comes up with a new scheme.
This also brings up the question of whether or not Flood’s Ford will be part of these new scheme or will it be happening around him? Well, knowing the Gallaghers, it could go either way, however, it would be a nice prank if he was part of it. If not, then we are sure that however Flood’s character fits it will bring the drama and some hilarious moments.
Richard Flood’s previous roles include series regular roles on the Irish drama Red Rock and NBC’s Crossing Lines. He has also starred in Nat Geo telepic Killing Kennedy.
