Big Brother 19 episode 27 review: Zingbot returns; a slippery Veto

Zingbot

Tonight is Big Brother 19 episode 27, and in so many ways it’s crazy that we’ve come this far into the series’ run already. It’s also crazy that there are more than thirty episodes of this show almost every season now! We’ve always said that this has got to be an incredibly hard show to put together as quickly as they do for 3 (and sometimes 4!) episodes a week.

The return of Zingbot was the clear highlight this week, and by and large he delivered with some great zings towards a few of the houseguests. Sure, calling Raven a clown was only mildly amusing and we still don’t get how Josh is overweight, but the ones towards Matt (the only thing he’s done in the house is Raven), Jason (he’s the dead weight Alex is carrying around — not entirely accurate, but still funny), and Christmas (singing “The Twelve Days of Christmas” about her injury) were all pretty funny. Kevin giving Zingbot the double bird? Also funny, and we’re not sure Zingbot even bothered to say something so offensive to Alex that CBS edited it.

The Veto Competition itself was a variation of the classic slip-and-slide installment that takes place almost every year, and we do think that it’s best suited as a Head of Household Comp. We’d rather be able to watch some of the chaos unfold here live on the feeds as opposed to seeing it play out on the show with a very quick edit. Jason won, and we actually think that he gave one of the best performances that we’ve ever seen. He barely seemed to fall down at all! Apparently, being a rodeo clown does mean that you have a good sense of balance.

After the win, Mark made a pretty good pitch to Christmas: Nominate Alex instead of him, and send her home. That splits up Jason/Alex, a strong competitive duo, and leaves Mark as a huge target. While we don’t think it was necessarily the right now choice (Jason and Alex should be targets this coming week anyway), we think that he put out one of the best options that he had. She wasn’t going to nominate Paul, and there’s a zero percent chance that Raven is considered a threat by anyone. He had to swing for the fences here.

Let’s say this about the Veto Ceremony – What Christmas said to Mark was complete nonsense. Just nominate him and don’t give him some crummy reason like you “fulfilled an obligation” to him by listening to him make a pitch. He could see right through that.

Still, kudos to Mark for being a good dude about all of this and not getting upset by anything that was thrown at him. This couldn’t be easy, especially since there are so many people who’ve been nasty to him this season. Grade: B+.
