NCIS fans: Are you a viewer who knows every part of this CBS show?
So what exactly is makes up an NCIS fan?
The term fan in this case is used with great respect. It might be a gesture of extreme love for the show and all the components of which viewers see every Tuesday night. From knowing all the machines and potions in Abby’s lab to reciting all of Agent Gibbs’ rules without cheating, the depth of knowledge fans know is more than just a few things about the show. In fact, NCIS fans could be considered walking encyclopedias with all the knowledge they have about the show.
Why be an NCIS fan?
After talking to a few of the super NCIS fans, I admit I still have a lot to learn about the show. Perhaps that is what makes it so exciting to watch. Picking up on the backstories of the different characters and learning new elements from the fans, it makes it delightfully fun to explore and write about the show. Sometimes it takes a village to fill in all the holes the writers leave for the fans to discover.
It begs to ask the question of whether everyone is thinking they are part of the NCIS squad in some way. Like, where would your desk be in the NCIS office and who would you partner up with if you had the chance? NCIS fans already know the answers to these questions and more.
Yes, I too would like to be this much of a NCIS fan, but from what I can tell I still need years and years of paying close attention to the CBS show. It’s the ongoing process that doesn’t sound like studying, instead it sounds like lots and lots of fun. To all those folks who have already become masters of the show, I can only relay how jealous I am of your superpowers!

Nice refreshingly honest piece!! I would never want to put myself in competition for “biggest NCIS fan”–but daresay I could hold my own for “NCIS Trivia”–and anytime the show brings up something from years and years back it’s immediately recalled by people on SM-including inconsistencies!! I only watched JAG on and off (no offense to JAG fans–just not “my cup of tea”)but was totally on board with NCIS’s backdoor pilot “Ice Queen/Meltdown”–as soon as I heard David McCallum would be in the cast–as a life-long fan the actor is well-known for very idiosyncratic roles-and the idea of him and Mark
Harmon interacting with their very different acting approaches -in of all things-a military procedural drama was intriguing–I truly can say I’ve appreciated what every member of the cast–past and present-has brought to the show—The rivalries some viewers have trying to make it a competition of this character vs that one drive me crazy–and even more so–the fact that the fake “rumor mills” keep causing trouble–but the NCIS FB Page comments are never boring!!!

This Gibbs fan has been a fan since S8 of JAG. Love that JAG has Albert Jethro (AJ) Chigwedden and NCIS has Leroy Jethro Gibbs. My car is named ‘Jethro’. Not only do I always follow Rule#9. I have an NCIS room w posters. Never misses an episode! I keep all the current seasons eps on my DVR until that DVD set is in my hands. Always wear one of my NCIS shirts on Tues. I carry eps on my iphone to have handy when I need a fix. You probably don’t want to get me started on the actors little background things and connections w the show.
