Jerry Seinfeld filmed Jerry Lewis episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
Lewis still performed even over the final years of his life, and we may have a sense now as to what one of his last roles was: An episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. In a post on Instagram, Jerry Seinfeld confirmed that he had filmed an episode with Lewis for the upcoming season while posting a photo:
“As I’ve said many times, if you don’t get Jerry Lewis, you don’t understand comedy. Spending an afternoon with him a couple of months ago in Vegas for Comedians in Cars was a comedy life moment for me.”
This is probably one of those episodes where you wish you could see almost everything in real time, given that there’s probably not much of a moment that you would want to miss with Lewis. He was still fully and still had incredible timing, and he’s one of those people who has stories for days an incredible grasp on the history of comedy. It’s also probably not often that Seinfeld comes across someone he can actually learn a thing or two from either, given that he has been a part of this industry for decades in its own right. With this show he’s created a great venue to get to know comedians better, and also just to see how people in the entertainment business react in a relaxed an atmosphere as possible. (Of course, we do also watch the show just to gawk at some of the great coffee that these guys often get to enjoy.)
Lewis died at 91 years old after having a series of health struggles over the past few years of his life. There’s a brilliant obituary and tribute to his life over at the New York Times, and that is absolutely something that we recommend that you check out if you want to learn more about him and the journey that he went on to stardom.
