Game of Thrones season 7 finale spoilers: Cersei Lannister’s moment
Now, Cersei is the person who could turn the tide for all of Westeros courtesy of one decision: Whether or not she is willing to send her forces north to assist in the battle against the White Walkers. Daenerys has seen The Night King, and now understands the terrors that exist within the army of the dead. Meanwhile, in turn Jorah, The Hound, and this crew managed to come back with one of them alive to bring down to King’s Landing.
The finale marks the first time in the entire series (think about how crazy that is) that almost all of the major players on the show are together in one place. You’ll have Jon Snow, Daenerys, and Cersei together, debating if there is a way to smooth everything over. Think about what’s happened to some of the other prominent locations of Westeros: The Twins are in tatters, Highgarden is largely gone, and Dorne is done for when it comes to leadership. You’ve got King’s Landing, Winterfell, Dragonstone, the Iron Islands, and a few other locations here and there. In the grand scheme of things, we are starting to understand more than ever just how small this world can be. So many beloved characters are gone!
Yet, there are still some loose ends beyond the battle against the White Walkers that need to be addressed. For one, will The Hound ever fight The Mountain? Also, is Brienne ever going to have a love interest that sticks? When are we going to see Jon Snow learn the truth about his parentage, if ever? When is Samwell Tarly going to reunite with everyone, and does he know at the moment what transpired to some of his family?
We don’t know if we’ve ever been this excited for a Game of Thrones episode once in our entire lives. It’s just hard not to be when you consider what the stakes are. Also, we’re still super-bummed out about the deaths of Benjen Stark … and Thoros of Myr … and the dragon. There’s so much death going on at the moment on the show and there’s only so much more time to tell these stories.
