Peter Kraus (seemingly) responds to the latest Bachelor talk

Is Peter Kraus done as a possible contender for The Bachelor? Does production want him, or does production want to kick him to the curb? There are seemingly endless different opinions out there on this subject right now, but the real truth of the situation is this: Peter’s the only one who actually knows for sure where he stands in the midst of all of this chattering.

For the time being, what is most notable is that he has not released a statement saying “I have no plans to be the Bachelor.” We actually think that the statement that he released back on Friday holds the most weight out of anything we’ve seen: “Making a judgement without having facts, is like solving a math problem without having the equation.” Does that have anything to do with the rumors? Probably, mostly because if there’s one thing that Bachelor Nation knows how to do really well at this point, it is to “create a really good subtweet that makes people wonder what in the world is going on.” That’s not exactly illuminating anyone as to how Peter really feels or what he’s actually going to be interested in doing in the end.

That comment, plus much of what we’ve said in the past, lead us to emphasizing something that we’ve said before: Nothing is a done deal right now. The producers of this show are the same ones who’ve devised crazy smokescreens in the past and deliberately led people to believe that they are getting the role only to pull the rug out from under them at the last minute. For some reason, they like to turn the “who is the next Bachelor” debate into some giant news story with mass speculation across the board. Until Peter says that he’s 100% out, he’s not out.

When will the decision be made?

Probably around the time of the Bachelor in Paradise finale, so anything can happen between now and then. We do think it helps the show to make a decision sooner rather than later, but if production and Peter can work out a deal, it benefits them very much to do so given that it means that they can get the best cast assembled for him. Also, you gotta remember that Peter is such a fan favorite that there are going to be people lining up to try to date him.

Because of the rumors about him not being interested/production not wanting him, there have been other names floating out there, with two of the most prominent ones being Ben Higgins and Wells Adams. Ben, for the record, has stated on a couple of occasions now that he’s not interested in taking on this part for the time being.
