Real Housewives of Orange County preview: Lydia McLaughlin’s birthday + more

There are many big events coming up on The Real Housewives of Orange County Monday night, and Lydia McLaughlin’s birthday is just one. This episode will be partially ridiculous, partially entertaining, and hopefully in the end one where we actually learn something about the various cast members.

For Lydia, we find the birthday celebration entertaining just because she lives in the sort of world where she can have cars given to her as a present. Just see the promo below for evidence. This is reminiscent somewhat of the Lexus commercials that you tend to see during the holiday season, where you end up witnessing someone get a brand-new vehicle with a gigantic red bow on the top of it. Yet, it’s not even that time of year right now!

Anyhow, McLaughlin’s celebration also includes apparently a helicopter ride, which is really when you think about it the sort of thing that someone would either love or hate. If you’re afraid of heights, this is probably falls more under “worst nightmares status.”

These moments are probably going to comprise more of the happier part of the story, given that there are some other conflicts that will eventually take center stage. This is the sort of way that most of these episodes work, after — they give you a little bit of fun stuff, but then wrap that up in some drama. We’re going to see Kelly Dodd deal with some personal conflicts, while Tamra Judge and Peggy Sulahian are probably not going to find their relationship evolving to a very good place. There is already some conflict between the two, and to think that the latter has only been on the show now for a matter of episodes. This is the sort of thing that will will expand outwards over time if you give it a little more time. Heck, by the reunion there could be full-born arguments as opposed to whisper-confrontations that are a little more similar to the one that we’ve got here.
