Wynonna Earp season 2 finale spoilers: The clock ticks away

The Wynonna Earp season 2 finale is airing on Syfy come August 25, and there appears to be one surefire way to describe it: Emotional. This could end up being an episode for the ages. It’s also going to be one that sets into motion everything to come in season 3.

Wynonna, based on the end of tonight’s episode, is at a point where her entire life could change. She’s going into labor, and somehow she has to figure out how to care for her new arrival while balancing the oh-so-unfortunate return of Bobo. We also saw ultimate realities for both Waverly and Nicole tonight — luckily, Wayhaught ‘shippers don’t have to worry all that much about those existing moving into this present.

Let’s just go ahead now and share some additional insight into what’s coming in this finale courtesy of Syfy…

Wynonna Earp season 2 finale synopsis – “Wynonna is running out of time and desperate to defeat The Widows before her fate is sealed.”

Just in case that isn’t enough to whet your appetite, allow showrunner Emily Andras’ recent tease to Entertainment Weekly do the trick:

“It is really emotionally taxing. I cried twice in the episode — which is pretty unusual for me because I’m very cold-hearted and I already know what’s going to happen. I hope it makes you feel things … At the same time, we now have the privilege of kicking off the new story for season 3. It’s definitely one of my favorite episodes of the year. It’s crazy y’all.”

In hearing that, you probably should go ahead and expect some sort of cliffhanger moving into season 3, not that anyone should ultimately be all that surprised about that given the sort of show this is. We’re not sure that it’ll ever calm down until it’s the series finale and you want to believe in some pretense of a peaceful ending.

For now, just get ready for an episode that will reach some emotional peaks — and probably make you cry. If Andras did so, you probably will, as well. Let’s just hope that there aren’t any major character deaths — we’d had that enough on some other TV series out there.
