America’s Got Talent results: Did Dunkin’ Save help Just Jerk, Yoli Mayor, Christian Guardino?
Earlier today, we offered up some of our full predictions as to what is going to happen on the show tonight: More than likely we’ll be seeing Darci Lynne, Preacher Lawson, and Angelica Hale make it through to the next round. While we’re reasonably confident about Puddles Pity Party, we’re a little bit cagier on him and some others. Meanwhile, we’re reasonably sure that The Singing Trump is being voted out of the office. Dunkin’ Save – Let’s start with what is going to take up much of the episode: Learning about the acts whose future is going to be decided on the fly tonight. Tyra Banks (after a lengthy recap and some judges’ banter) eventually revealed that the three acts are up for the Save in sixth, seventh, and eighth place: Christian Guardino, Just Jerk, and Yoli Mayor. We’re a little surprised that Christian made it into the Save, but we probably under-value singers more than most. The other two were somewhat predictable entries when you think about judges’ feedback mixed with viewer perception.
First Act Advancing – In the Stairwell. There’s no real surprise here given that America loves supporting the military, and that plus their vocal performance made them the sort of act we imagined that we’d see in the semifinals.
Second Act Advancing – Preacher Lawson. Like we said, the guy was a clear lock. He was hilarious and there was nobody else quite like him.
Third Act Advancing – Darci Lynne. No shock at all here. She’s the favorite to win arguably the entire competition!
Fourth Act Advancing – Angelica Hale. America loves singers. Therefore, you can’t be shocked that three out of the four acts confirmed to be advancing all have singing connections.
Fifth Act Advancing – Billy & Emily. Hey, there’s so variety moving forward!
Dunkin’ Save – The recipient is … Christian! We’re not sure we agree (there are already enough singers on the show), but like we said, America loves singers, especially kid singers.
Judges’ Decision – It went to deadlock, and in the end, this led to the elimination of Just Jerk. Yoli Mayor moves on! Well, there are even more singers in the next round now than we predicted.
