When could first The Blacklist season 5 trailer come out?

If you’re like us, then odds are you are feeling extremely eager at the moment to check out the first The Blacklist season 5 trailer – and why wouldn’t you be? There’s a lot to look forward to with the new season!

Hopefully, the following serves as a little bit of consolation: You’re probably not going to have to wait too much longer to see the show release some video footage. Last year, we started to see some new footage around the middle of August (August 18, to be precise), so we figure that something similar is going to be happening here. The season 5 premiere is only a little more than a month away, so we feel like it’s time for a trailer.

There is also quite a bit for NBC to promote at the moment when it comes to the show and the story.

The timeslot change – We’re not just talking about NBC shifting the James Spader – Megan Boone series a little bit earlier in the evening — we’re also going to Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. Eastern! This is an interesting shift for the show. In theory, airing at an earlier time is a good thing, but this is also forcing it to go up against Empire on Fox (also airing in a new timeslot) and Survivor on CBS. We don’t see as much competition from ABC’s comedies or The CW’s drama lineup, but this is still a seismic shift for the show and very different from where it’s been much of it’s run.

The changes in the story – Obviously, the biggest one is the epic Reddington reveal that came at the conclusion of the fourth season: He is Liz Keen’s father … or at least Reddington was. We’d go on with the imposter theory here, but that’s really not the main point that we want to drive across. Our focus today is more on the subject of the suitcase and its mysterious contents, which could play an integral role in season 5 and fundamentally change the relationship between Reddington and Liz at its core. This is going to be essential to continuing the story of the show this season opening up a brand new mystery for us. Suffice it to say, we remain curious to see what happens with them. We want there to be some dynamic conflict, but simultaneously we also want the two to continue to maintain some sort of relationship where they work together and effectively bounce off of each other  in the way that only they can.

If the show manages to provide some great Reddington / Liz drama, we’ll be happy. We do also know that we’ll be seeing more of Tom now that Ryan Eggold is back as a series regular following the short-lived The Blacklist: Redemption series.
