America’s Got Talent results preview: Dunkin’ Save may help Bello Nock, Puddles Pity Party
The goal of this article, (which is the first of many we’ll be posting on Wednesdays leading up to results shows) is to break down who is for-sure safe, who is likely a goner, and who could end up snagging that Dunkin’ Save for the first time this season. We had a pretty good show on August 15, so there is some ambiguity as to who could be moving forward to the next round.

Near locks to advance – You can go ahead and count on Darci Lynne making it through. It was 100% clear before the show even started that she would perform last, and that she did. Similar to Grace VanderWaal last year, she feels like the clear favorite to win the million bucks.
Beyond Darci, we’d go ahead and say that Preacher Lawson (great comedian near the end of the show) and Angelica Hale (America loves kid singers) are sure to advance. On some episodes there are probably going to be more than three locks — especially since there are seven advancing — but as noted, there’s a lot of mystery here since we haven’t gauged the public yet this year.
Likely going home – The Singing Trump is just not the sort of act we see anyone voting for — especially with the timing of him performing in the wake of real-life events. He’s done, and we’re pretty confident that Christian Guardino, despite being a Golden Buzzer recipient, is also gone. He performed so early in the show and there are so many other singers.
Dunkin’ Save contenders – Some of these people will be safe and won’t even for sure need the Save, but we think that this week, Bello Nock, Billy & Emily, Puddles Pity Party, Artyon & Paige, Yoli Mayor, In the Stairwell, and Just Jerk are all contenders to move forward.
Of this group, we would argue that Bello, Billy & Emily, Just Jerk, and Puddles are our personal favorites and should move forward — and we’re confident that Puddles will go forward given that he has a large internet following. Beyond that, we can envision America going with In the Stairwell (supporting the military), Artyon & Paige (America loves kids), and Yoli (America also loves singers).
This episode is going to prove to us more than anything what it is that the voting public is really looking for with AGT this season — are they voting based on talent, variety, or emotional stories and backgrounds? It’s not our place to sit here and proclaim what is the right and wrong way to vote, but our preference is to see a wide array of different acts in the semifinals as opposed to just singers or traditional dancers. It’s what makes the show special.
