Shadowhunters season 3: Will we see more Lilith?
The woman at the end of the hour, the one that we saw with that messed-up body of Sebastian/Jonathan, goes by the aforementioned name. Lilith is a powerful name within the supernatural world, and she has a huge role to play in the show to come.
Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Todd Slavkin had the following to say about this character, including what makes her so important to both this universe and the upcoming third season premiering in the new year:
“…Her name is Lillith. Her blood runs through Jonathan Morgenstern. It was her blood that Valentine used to experiment on poor young Jonathan. … She’s the Big Bad in Season 3. We were very geeked out when we created her entrance. What an awesome entry into the world in that cave with the wraiths all molding into one. We got really excited by that.”
We’re certainly very much excited to see what her entrance into this world looks like, coupled with the interactions with some of the other characters. What’s interesting about her, at least for us on some superficial level, is that she does represent a chance to see someone completely different on the show that we haven’t seen before, while also giving a very different sort of Big Bad to the characters. You want to keep challenging them and upping the ante. Given that she’s got origins that dip back far before Jonathan and has those ties to Valentine, as well, she’s a Big Bad rooted into the world of the show we know already.
Beyond just Lilith, seeing the progression of some other characters within the world of the show should prove to be very much interesting in its own right. Just remember for a moment or two that you’re going to be seeing coming up this coming season Jace struggling with the fact that he was dead — even if it was just for a brief time. There’s a reason that people die, and coming back from that is not going to be something that is altogether easy. There are also plenty of relationship struggles that these characters will be tackling in their own way coming up. Remember here that we’ve got Magnus and Alec now back together, and Jace and Clary have to figure out where they stand with this significant new wrench thrown into things.
