Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders: Rya Kihlstedt and Josh Stamberg join
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kihlstedt is set to play Cindy Erdlyi, “an ex-cop who is Menendez lawyer Leslie Abramson’s go-to investigator. She is described as hard-hitting with connections at every level of law enforcement.”
Stamberg will join the series playing Robert Rand, “a nonthreatening reporter who has gained access to the Menendez home and forms a connection with the case.”
The two casting additions will no doubt bring their amazing talents to the show that already has an all-star cast. Kihlstedt’s character’s role in the investigation sounds incredibly dynamic because the character has the important job of her doing all the background work. It will also be exciting to see the true nature of Cindy Erdlyi and Leslie Abramson’s working relationship. Was it a good match? Did they dislike each other or did they actually get along? We can’t wait to see.
Stamberg’s role as Robert Rand especially sounds interesting. Despite being described as “nonthreatening”, it will be great to see how Robert Rand will gain access to such an important crime scene and one that gained the public’s attention.
The new addition to the Law and Order family will be made up of eight episodes and detail the events surrounding the murder of the Menendez boys’ parents. The first installment of the anthology series is described as a ” ‘gripping in-depth dramatization’ of the famed murder case that took America by storm in the early 1990s. When Lyle and Erik Menendez were tried on national TV for brutally killing their parents in Beverly Hills, their story became a national obsession. Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders dives into the players, the crime and the media circus, detailing the day-to-day battles of the trial and unveiling the shocking truth of what really went down behind the scenes.”
The all-star cast of includes four-time Emmy winner Edie Falco, The Good Wife alum Josh Charles, Heather Graham, Miles Gaston Villanueva, and Gus Halper.
Law & Order vet Rene Balcer serves as showrunner, while Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland) will direct several episodes. The two will executive produce with Wolf, Peter Jankowski and Arthur W. Forney.
