Teen Wolf season 6 episode 13: Tyler Posey on directing episode

Tyler Posey

Sunday night’s new episode of Teen Wolf is going to be an important one for a wide array of different reasons, with one of the biggest ones being that it marks the directorial debut of one Tyler Posey.

So what did he appreciate about taking on this role, especially so close to the end of the show’s run? Well, a big part of it came down to him wanting the opportunity to be able to do something different and build a different relationship with the crew at the same time. Speaking to TV Guide in a new interview, Posey had the following to say:

“It was really cool, because I’ve been working with these people for years as an actor, and when I came around on the other side of the camera, I showed how excited I was and how willing I was to work hard … I got a lot of respect for the crew. Even though they really liked me and had respect for me before, this was a different kind of respect.”

Posey also shared his love for camera work in this interview, and made it clear that this is definitely something that he would love to do more of in the future — and we’re sure that he will.

The importance for Tyler taking on this role at this point in the show’s run is pretty clear: He wants to be able to get his feet wet in this world, and with that, establish more of a resume. Without a directing credit to his name, it would have been so much harder for him to get this job on another show. He doesn’t have that sort of trust with another crew. Now that he’s got this, however, he may be able to get some other directing gigs in other places — or maybe do this with some of his own projects in the future. Now that the show’s wrapped, he is already getting a chance to move on and tackle some other projects. He’s already got another great acting gig on the new season of Jane the Virgin, so we’ll see what else ends up coming his way in terms of directing jobs in the future.

Ultimately, the biggest thing that he’s going working in his advantage now is freedom. Because he’s worked so hard on this show for six years, he’s got enough of a reputation now that he doesn’t have to just take any job that comes his way. He can be patient, and take a little bit more of his time to figure out precisely what he wants to do from here.
