Major Crimes season 6 premiere date revealed; see new promo
For weeks, fans have been waiting for the announcement on the Season 6 premiere date and now that it’s finally here, we are counting down the days. If fans will recall, Season 5 left an opening for some exciting new stories and some interesting ways to tell them. It was announced that for Season 6 the series would be shifting from a case-of-the-week format to episode arcs. In other words, the cases would be lasting over several episodes. TNT and the series made this decision after the success of episode arcs in previous seasons.
With this new format to look forward to, it definitely gives the series a fresh new look and one that could potentially attract more audience members. In addition to the new format, the fans are looking forward to the continuation of the characters’ personal lives, including Cmdr. Sharon Raydor and Lieutenant Andy Flynn’s upcoming wedding.
In the statement released by TNT, Season 6 is shaping up to be its best. It states, “TNT’s Major Crimes faces its three most challenging cases, struggling to solve mysteries mired in complex political conflicts having little to do with identifying and arresting murderers. As Cmdr. Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell) grows accustomed to her new boss, Assistant Chief Leo Mason (Leonard Roberts), the detectives find themselves questioning their faith in the rapidly changing priorities of the justice system and their ability to reason through difficult changes in their personal relationships. Finally, they must accept the necessity of risk, in all its different guises, as they prepare to face the inexplicable but increasingly undeniable return of Phillip Stroh (guest star Billy Burke)”.
It was previously announced that Billy Burke would be returning and many fans were glad to hear it. Burke’s character, Philip Stroh, is probably the Major Crimes squad’s most challenging enemy. He has been the only person to get the best of the squad so this upcoming showdown is highly anticipated. So will this be the final showdown? It would certainly be a long time coming if it was and not if not, then the door is still open for some exciting storytelling.
The stellar cast includes two-time Oscar(R) nominee Mary McDonnell, G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz, Phillip P. Keene, Kearran Giovanni, Jonathan Del Arco, Graham Patrick Martin, Leonard Roberts, Jessica Meraz and Daniel di Tomasso.
It was also previously announced that Amirah Vann will be recurring this season as Special Agent Jazzma Fey.
