Chicago Med season 3: What could lie ahead for Natalie Manning?
While Torrey DeVitto has done a brilliant job making Dr. Manning someone fans can get behind, we wanted to figure out what could be in store for her during Season 3. She’s been determined, kind, but doesn’t like to step over the line between right and wrong. Many times she’s the one who gets the other doctors to think before they act.
So moving into the series’s third season what can the show do with Dr. Manning?
Put her in some hot water – We know that Dr. Manning doesn’t take medical risk, like for instance Dr. Will Halstead, but it would be interesting to see her in a situation that makes her question her values. By putting her in this type of situation it would reveal more of who is she and the kind of doctor she is. However, we don’t mean putting her in a small situation, but instead one like the show did with Dr. Halstead, where his future at the hospital was in jeopardy. Now this doesn’t mean we want her to lose her job; having her in a high stakes situation similar to Dr. Halstead’s is good enough.
Showing her reaction to a tragedy – As fans know, Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) was shot at the end of Season 2 so how will Dr. Manning react? It certainly would be interesting to see her reaction to a colleague being shot. Fans have seen her reaction to children being in bad situations and, in some cases, adults, but never someone she works closely with.
Featuring her relationship with Will – This relationship is probably the one fans are cheering for the most, since the idea of them being a couple was planted in fans’ minds during the first season when the two looked at each other with hearts in their eyes. It was obvious. So going into Season 3 we think the series should show their relationship more. Dr. Manning and Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) were both seen at the end of Season 2 dancing at a party with that look that maybe they both realized something. We know Will broke up with girlfriend because his feelings for Natalie were so strong, so where do we go from here?
As mentioned previously, we don’t think they should get together as soon as the show comes back, but make it gradual. The series needs to play it out until just the right moment. The series needs to ask itself, is there any other reason why these two characters shouldn’t be together? Once they can’t answer that question anymore, that’s when it will be the right moment. However, until then, it would be great to see little moments between the two that can make the wait bearable.
With that, fans need to see Natalie wear her heart on her sleeve, even if it’s just a little. We know she isn’t the person to bare it all, but she can certainly reveal her feelings little by little.
Overall, Dr. Natalie Manning is an incredibly strong female character and one the series can use to its advantage.
