Snowfall episode 6 spoilers: Franklin scrambles; new ratings

Snowfall season 1When Snowfall episode 6 airs on FX next week, one thing will feel clear: There is a lot to look forward to in terms of drama. For the characters, things are going to keep going to hell in a handbasket. The longer this show goes, and the worse things will most likely be for some of these characters.

Below, you can get a small sense of that in the latest details made available for “A Long Time Coming,” a fairly ironic name when you consider that this show hasn’t been on the air all that long.

Snowfall episode 6 synopsis – “Franklin turns to Jerome for guidance, resulting in an unexpected encounter. Teddy contemplates a different future for his family. Gustavo and Lucia enlist business partners from Gustavo’s past. Written by Tatiana Suarez-Pico; directed by Michael Lehmann.”

Who’s ready for more Gustavo? He’s still our favorite character, so exploring any part of his life is something worth celebrating.

The latest ratings

When we last wrote about the series’ performance a couple of weeks ago, we showed the slightest amount of trepidation for one major reason: A big drop in numbers from episode 1 and episode 2. Luckily, over the past two weeks, there’s been a recovery.

Episode 3 of the series ended up drawing a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic to go along with 1.05 million viewers. Meanwhile, the next new episode of the show posted a 0.4 rating and just over a million viewers. These numbers still are up versus episode 2, and they bode reasonably well for the show’s future. One of the things that we’re learning with cable drama series this summer is that once they are able to get viewers in the door, it’s a little bit easier to keep them around than the broadcast counterparts. Cite quality as a big reason for that. The challenge is finding the way to get them watching in the first place when you think about the wide array of competition that exists out there in the television landscape.

For now, let’s consider ourselves cautiously optimistic about a second season of the show. While there are still some creative kinks that may need to be worked out, we’ve got a great cast at the center of Snowfall and a compelling time period to go along with it. Sure, there have been plenty of dramas about the drug trade, but few with this specific tone and voice behind them.
