Big Brother 19 live feed spoilers: Cody vs. Jessica; Mark vs. Josh (day 39, morning)

Cody vs. Jessica

There are many crazy events that unfolded in the Big Brother 19 house last night, which seems about right given that we spent some of the night away from the feeds. We’ve since gone back, though, and we have some of the big highlights from the insanity that went down.

Let’s begin with Mark almost getting himself tossed from the game. After Cody and Jessica found themselves nominated alongside Jason, Mark tried to stand up for Cody; this set Josh off, given that Mark didn’t stand up for someone in Dominique who actually had its back. The two got extremely heated, and by the end of the argument, there was enough chest-puffing to make a man dizzy. Josh brought out the pots and pans again, and Mark “grabbing” one from him was an aggressive act that almost led to him getting in a full-on fistfight with the guy. We do feel for Mark to an extent given that Josh is intentionally riling him up, but only to a certain extent. Mark’s got to realize that with his size and appearance, his temper is going to be watched differently than other people. If he doesn’t keep that under control, he could be gone.

Mark did go on an apology tour after what happened with Josh, and everyone seems to be reasonably okay for now.

As for Jessica and Cody, however, they went through their own highs and lows. Everything started with Cody screaming at Paul and getting super-heated, and she felt like he was acting far worse than he should have. Cody then tried playing the martyr and talking about how he’s super-aggressive and that’s just who he is and being super-inflexible … basically, the Cody that we’ve seen all season. Jessica didn’t like that. It looked for a while like Cody was going to split up from her and she may not even use the Halting Hex this week, but that was short-lived. All signs now point towards her using it/securing the two of them are safe.

Further evidence of them preparing for the Hex

There were some weather warnings overnight that suggested that we’re going to be seeing the return of that competition from last season, which was very amusing as the houseguests tried to read weather reports while dealing with some crazy conditions.

What we don’t like at all about Jessica and Cody is that they’re not even trying to study. Sure, they know that they don’t need to, but this is the sort of stuff that loses them jury votes at the end. They’re caring about each other more than the game and isolating themselves from the house. Our opinion over time on Jessica as a player has evolved, but one thing we do hold pretty firm on is this: She could do really well in a returning-player season. She’s got a lot of skills and savvy, but she’s terrible at choosing allies and Cody is killing her game. The best thing that she could have happen is for him to leave the house again.

We’ll be back later this morning (presumably) to talk Veto Players and more over at the link here. Be sure to check that out, along with our exclusive interview with Allison Grodner. (Photo: CBS.)
