Hawaii Five-0 season 8: Chris Vance returning as Harry Langford
In a new post on Twitter, showrunner Peter M. Lenkov confirmed that Vance (known for Transporter: The Series or his arc on Supergirl season 1 as Non) will be coming back for an episode as British secret agent Harry Langford. How he factors into the story remains to be seen, but he’s a perfect fit for this action-heavy show and he’s a character the writers could bring back however often they wanted/however much that Vance is available. There certainly are no shortage of epic chase scenes that they could use him for.
Obviously, Vance is returning to a show that is very different, given that there are two completely-new cast members in Beulah Koale and Meaghan Rath while Ian Anthony Dale (Adam), Taylor Wily (Kamekona), Kimee Balmilero (Noelani Cunha), and Dennis Chun (Duke Lukela) are all promoted to series regulars. This will give the show a different vibe, but hopefully, one that still captures the essence of what makes this show great: Fun characters, interesting mysteries, and the soul of the islands and the people who live there. Filming is underway now leading up to the show’s premiere this fall, and there are likely many more familiar faces that are appearing over time. This is a show that’s got an
We should also mention in here that Lenkov has reminded fans yet again that there’s one thing you don’t have to worry about going into season 8: McGarrett dying. Is it fair to be worried about Alex O’Loughlin’s future on the show beyond this coming season? Sure, but it’s different to be concerned about if the show is going to be so cruel as to kill the character off. That’s not happening — there is a family atmosphere here, and even if someone was to leave the show, they don’t want to make it so that they can never come back. That’s why there is a door still open to seeing potentially Grace Park or Daniel Dae Kim down the road — though we’re not all that sure it will happen in the near future.
In getting back to Vance for a moment, the timing of this announcement likely means that you can expect to see the actor at some point during the early going of the season. Think in terms of the first few episodes.

They appear to have made good casting choices – I’m excited about season 8 and look forward to meeting the new team members.

Based on the set photos so far, it seems like it’s mainly just AOL, Caan, and McBride out there filming, with only a couple pictures of Rath from presumably the the premiere episode and none so far of Koale. It seems the show is going to rely heavily on the returning three for much of the early part of the season.

That makes the most sense, given that you can’t give viewers too much of something new right away! Fear of the unknown and all.

That is true. They also might be saving a lot of the new people for episodes that Scott Caan won’t be in(if he is only in a certain amount of episodes every season). It will also be interesting to see how the addition of Hulu and Youtube ratings affect the overall Nielsen ratings for this show. The ratings might actually increase, and then what will all the people screaming RACISM after Kim and Park quit the show say? Stay Tuned.
