We feel like we’ve discussed many negative stories as of late, so let’s talk something more positive: When could an NCIS season 15 promo hit the web?
Given that filming is starting to get going for the CBS procedural in the Los Angeles area, it makes sense to start wondering the answer to this question, especially given that the premiere date is just over two months away. With some of the changes to this season, including the departure of Jennifer Esposito and also the cliffhanger ending from season 14, the thirst is real for some more stories from this world (and some answers). Will Gibbs (Mark Harmon), McGee (Sean Murray), and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) emerge in one piece following what transpired on their mission? That is the hope, but there are no guarantees of anything.
Alas, we do come bearing some bad news: You will probably have to wait for a little while still to get the first season 15 promo. With filming just kicking off, the only promo that would be ready over the next week or two would be one containing old footage that is edited together in some sort of compelling way to get you excited about the potential for the show moving forward. Notice the key word there: Potential. There wouldn’t be anything else to bank on or hope for.
Last summer, the first promo for NCIS season 14 debuted far later in the summer; traditionally, we’re lucky to get a first clip of new footage in late August, given that this gives the fine folks over at CBS a good month or so to promote the show using some of the changes that they’ve made to the series. Odds are, this is a pretty similar timeframe to what we are going to be seeing this time around. Even when the promo does come out, odds are that the network will still be cagey in terms of how much they want to share. Why would they want to expose whether or not Torres, Gibbs, or McGee get out of their tricky situation alive?
The best thing that you can hope for
CBS is sure to release a few more NCIS press releases over the coming weeks, and through those, you may get a better sense as to some of the cast members who are going to have big stories — also, we could feasibly have a new cast member if there is a desire to replace Esposito. There are probably enough cast members that we don’t need anyone else, but in its current form, the show is very male-heavy with Emily Wickersham and Pauley Perrette being the only two women in the cast.
We’re sure that there will be some announcements coming in the next few weeks. For now, be sure to head over to this link in the event you want to see an assortment of some of the latest updates. (Photo: CBS.)
