Quick Hits: Legends of Tomorrow title; Will & Grace art; Mariah Carey drama series
In a new post over on Twitter, show executive producer Marc Guggenheim confirmed that the title for the first episode of the season is “Aruba-Con.” This is a clear reference to “Arbua,” which was the title for the final episode of season 2. The way that it’s written on the page, it almost makes you think that Mick Rory’s finally going to get his dream of going out to Aruba, albeit for some sort of weird science fiction convention. Most likely, this is not actually what’s going to be going down here at all.
What we actually wonder is if “Aruba-Con” really just means “Aruba, Continued,” given that this should hopefully pick up not that long after the events of that finale. The Legends, after all, probably have some questions about what they’re going to do with the dinosaurs in the present. While they were able to stop Eobard Thawne, the problem was that in the process, they also messed with the rules of time and allowed for all sorts of craziness.
The new season of Legends of Tomorrow is set to air on Tuesday nights this fall.
Mariah Carey drama series being developed
We’re not altogether surprised that someone would want to explore this idea, given that Carey is one of the biggest pop stars of all time and there is a ton of material that can be mined from her life. Nonetheless, it’s interesting to see that there is such a prestige network in Starz on board.
According to a report from Deadline, the network is working on a drama that is set in the 1980’s and will focus on a young girl from a biracial family who overcomes obstacles and goes on to become one of the biggest music stars of all time. There is an inspirational quality to this, but we hope that along the way, the show isn’t afraid to make this project super-gritty and get into the seedy underbelly of the music industry. Given that this is Starz, we don’t envision anything being glossed over at all. Fingers crossed that proves to be true.
New Will & Grace art
Finally, we come bearing some of the latest promotional material from the upcoming NBC revival of the beloved sitcom. While there’s nothing about the main characters all taking a bath together that is altogether surprising given the characters that we’ve come to know, we do still find this very much fun and are more than interested in seeing where the show goes when it premieres this fall. Obviously, it wants to stay true to the vision in the original show, but it does need to be modernized here and there in the process.
