Ballers season 3 trailer: The Vegas – NFL debate
Given that Game of Thrones is premiering tonight on HBO, it is fair to wonder if the same can be said for Ballers season 3. Alas, that’s not the case. You will be waiting for one more week in order to see the return of Spencer Strasmore, and with a story that is going to be shifting the show geographically in a big way.
For much of season 1 and season 2, the bulk of the story revolved in part around Spencer trying to build his sports empire / stay afloat down in Miami. Now, much of that is going to shift with him doing everything within his power to try and get an NFL team in Las Vegas. Logistically, there is a lot that makes sense about shifting things around, especially since the show isn’t filming in Miami anymore. Also, there isn’t some enormous need in order to lock the series into that occasion, anyway. You just have to remember for a moment that Spencer is trying to be a global power-player in the sports-management space, and that’s global. There is no need to worry about just one city.
As Spencer works on his quest to get a team in Vegas, there is obviously going to be blowback. There may be the population and the support there in the city, but who’s going to move? Also, what are the risks that come with putting a team in a city so well-known when it comes to gambling? One of the interesting things that come around with this show is that we’re going to see how much life imitates art. In real life, the Oakland Raiders are going to be heading to Sin City after the completion of a suitable stadium there, so we’ll see what some of the parallels are.
If you missed it for whatever reason, take a look at the synopsis for the premiere for some further details as to what’s coming up:
“In Las Vegas on business, Spencer (Dwayne Johnson) gets reacquainted with Chloe (Serina Swan), an old flame now working for Wayne (Steve Guttenberg), while Ricky (John David Washington) challenges the odds in a game of dice. Set up by Joe (Rob Corddry) to represent top running back Kisan (Kris Lofton), Jason (Troy Garity) ends up sweating it out in a tough neighborhood. Charles (Omar Benson Miller) gets a public-speaking primer from Julie (Jazmyn Simon); Vernon (Donovan Carter) and Reggie (London Brown) make a risky endorsement deal.”
