Ray Donovan season 5: Take a longer look at what’s coming!

Ray Donovan season 5

When Ray Donovan season 5 premieres on Showtime later this summer, there are some things that will feel familiar. Yet, there will also be quite a few changes! Ray’s job may be fairly similar, but that’s the only thing that really is.

In the video below, you can see series star Liev Schreiber do a good job of setting up what is the foundation for the new batch of episodes, including what more of the stakes for Ray are going to be. His father is going to be around more — at least in the early going — and he’s going to be forced to deal with what that looks like given the two understandably have a testy relationship. He also has to battle some of his own demons. On some level, there is a very good person within Ray. Yet, he in the process is going to need to reconcile some of the terrible things that he’s done and find some way to come to a larger understanding there. If he can do that, maybe he comes out of this all a healthier person … but we certainly have some doubts that he’s going to be able to do that just because he’s Ray Donovan. These sort of things never tend to work out for him quite like he wants.

In addition to this video, check out the full synopsis below for more details, plus the super-impressive list of guest stars for the upcoming batch of episodes:

“The new season of RAY DONOVAN finds Ray (Liev Schreiber) turning his attention back to Hollywood and his celebrity fixer firm. Meanwhile, Mickey (Jon Voight) is overjoyed to at last be welcomed into Ray’s home and swears to finally mend his criminal ways. Joining the series in a season-long arc is Susan Sarandon as legendary media mogul “Samantha Winslow,” who sets Ray against her own fixers in fear they may know too much. Additional season five guest stars include Brian White (Chicago Fire), Adina Porter (American Horror Story), Rhys Coiro (Entourage), Lili Simmons (Hawaii Five-0), Tara Buck (True Blood), C. Thomas Howell (Criminal Minds) and Dominique Columbus (Sickhouse). The cast also includes Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Steven Bauer, Katherine Moennig, Pooch Hall, Kerris Dorsey and Devon Bagby. A Showtime production, RAY DONOVAN is executive produced by David Hollander, Mark Gordon, Bryan Zuriff and Lou Fusaro, and was created by Ann Biderman.”

This show does remain one of Showtime’s marquee hits, and it has a huge challenge this summer in seeing if it can stay afloat in the midst of a sea of Game of Thrones episodes.
