Arrow season 6: How much does Stephen Amell know about crossover?

Arrow season 6

We know that there is a big crossover among all the DC superhero shows this fall, and Arrow season 6 is in a new position with it. While it was right in the middle of the event this past year, this time around Oliver Queen and company get a chance to close things out. Given that it was the show that started it all, it’s pretty easy to be stoked about this.

Speaking (per ComicBook.com), Arrow star Stephen Amell made it clear that he personally is rather happy to close things out with the event:

“I think the idea this year, from what I understand is, last year they said four-night crossover but in a lot of ways, Supergirl was just kind of a lead in to The Flash, so I think this year they really want to get everyone involved, … I think they want to get everyone involved in every show. I like having the anchor, we have the anchor this year, Thursday night.”

If you did not hear previously, Arrow is moving to a new timeslot on Thursday nights this fall. That is a chance for it to be able to deliver a slightly different audience, and be paired once against with Supernatural.

In getting back to the crossovers, one of the most interesting things that Amell says on this subject is that he already knows what’s going to happen … not that he’s saying or anything. All early indications for the crossover seem to suggest at the moment that we’re going to be getting a story that is much more personal than what we got last year, which is fine with us getting that the story of the Dominators, while fun, was not all that memorable beyond seeing everyone come together for the first time in that capacity. Once you got past the wow factor, there wasn’t really all that much there. We like our DC – CW universe with as much substance as humanly possible.

These shows are all coming back in the fall, and we continue to be a fan of the crossover in moderation. It works well as a big one-episode event, but let’s not forget for a moment here that one of the reasons that Arrow season 5 was so great was because it spent so much time isolated and doing its own thing. There was less of it bouncing around in other worlds that were tonal shifts from its own.

Could Black Lightning ever join and make this a five-part event?

It may sound a little bit over-the-top to think about in theory, but it’s actually not anywhere near that impossible! While it’s not something that seems to be coming anytime soon, the show’s own executive producer noted that he’s definitely open to the idea down the road..
