Queen of the South season 2 episode 7 spoilers: The distributor hunt

With Queen of the South season 2 episode 7 airing on USA next week, all signs point to us being in the home stretch of the season. This is the time where the rubber meets the road, and with Teresa having a significant rival now in El Santo, the pressure’s on Teresa in order to find a way to withstand the threat. This means a wide array of different things, including trying to figure out a way in which to avoid further conflict and to get things operating smoothly once more. Just as you would expect, though, this is going to be so much more challenging than it seems on the surface.

Basically, this all spells out a familiar tale, one where Teresa continually has to take on foes old and new who are coming at her.

We’re trying to give you a good sense of this on a weekly basis as we look at the show’s renewal chances — for the time being, we remain every bit as optimistic as we have been over the past several weeks, and for good reason since all of the evidence at the moment points to the show coming back.

Here’s a little bit more good news in that department: Last week’s episode was a nice bounce-back after some recent dips, and the series generated its best numbers since the premiere: A 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and also over 1.1 million viewers. The numbers are down slightly when compared to season 1, but it’s a decline of under 5% in the demo. Anytime that a show these days loses less than 10% year to year, it’s something that we do consider to be a victory. Hopefully, this victory will really come in the form of a season 3 renewal sooner rather than later.
