Snowfall episode 3 spoilers: Franklin fights back; ratings updates

Snowfall season 1

Where will Snowfall episode 3 take its story? Well, the first thing that we can say is that this is a show moving things along rather quickly! The origin story for Los Angeles’ crack market picked up steam tonight, and we’re going to see the escalation of many Franklin’s problems early on next week’s new episode entitled “Slow Hand.” He may be reaping some rewards, but he’s also going to get on the other side of that plenty of problems. He’s a target, people will take advantage of that, and he also has to make some tough decisions. He’s far from the only person who’s going to be in that position, either.

Want to get a little more in the way of insight on what’s ahead? Then we recommend taking a look at the official synopsis for the episode below.

Snowfall episode 3 synopsis – “Franklin enlists help to retrieve his stolen property. In the midst of a weapons deal, Teddy receives an unexpected visitor. Gustavo, Lucia and Pedro seek a fall guy. Written by Leonard Chang; directed by Dan Attias.”

The fact that it’s episode 3 and Gustavo and company are already looking to pin their misdeeds elsewhere just shows you the pace in which we’re moving things along.

Ratings update

This is something that we’ll provide for most of the season for those of you who are super-hungry for numbers. For the time being, we’re focusing mostly on live+same day ratings; we do recognize that FX often looks more at live+3 (which is live ratings plus three days of DVR viewership), but we like to be rather uniform with our ratings discussions.

The premiere episode for Snowfall fared rather well in scoring a 0.6 in the 18-49 demographic; that’s better than most cable series are doing this summer, and if that holds this is probably a show that will be a staple of the network and one that they heavily tout.

Here’s the problem: That number has to hold for things to be that way, and we’ve come to realize over time that new shows often do tend to lose viewership. So long as it remains over a 0.4, though, we do feel like it’ll remain in good standing. Because of its premiere episode being so solid. This is a show that’s fashioned itself out a little bit of wiggle room. We’ll get a further sense soon of what happens the rest of the way.

As for the promo below…

This offers up some more insight into how deep Gustavo and company are already, and also how far they’re looking to go in their “fall guy” quest. Let’s just say that things here are going to be getting potentially-deadly. One of most violent episodes of the season is coming up; let’s hope that there remains a significant amount of substance to go along with it.
