Are there signs a Longmire season 6 premiere date is coming soon?

We know that there are plenty of fans out there eager for a Longmire season 6 premiere date, and we definitely understand them. After all, we’re just as excited as anyone! This is one of our favorite long-running shows, and it’s absolutely clear that there is a great deal to look forward to from the final batch of episodes. Barry Sloane is returning, there are more epic mysteries for Walt Longmire to solve, and the series will have to come to some sort of fitting end where we can feel good about going on this entire journey.

Now, there is one other question to announce: Are we getting closer to a premiere date actually being announced? There’s starting to be some evidence. Earlier today, Netflix confirmed the BoJack Horseman season 4 premiere date. The reason that matters is because it’s coming in September. The same goes for another show in Fuller House that is coming in LATE September. Given that the premiere dates are out for both of these shows, why not go ahead and add Longmire to that list? It makes sense for Netflix to start off the marketing train for it soon, since you want to make the most of your final season … and remind people at the same time that they need to start catching up.

It’s been a while since we’ve uttered this, so it’s worth referencing again that we wouldn’t be surprised if the show does not return until October. That’s later than the past two seasons, but there is one piece of evidence pointing in that direction: The season 5 DVD is not coming until near the end of September, and that typically comes out a week or two before the launch of a new season.

For the record, we actually think that the later premiere date could be a blessing in disguise, given that this would allow Longmire a little bit more time in order to ensure that it’s perfect, while also avoiding some of the fall premiere competition that is out there. We do think that this hurt the exposure for the fifth season on some level, since the majority of the shows that were airing at around that time on network TV were similar in both style and substance to Longmire. You want it to get the platform that it deserves for the final send-off.

Our prediction

We’d argue that by the end of the month, and maybe earlier than that, you’ll learn the final-season premiere date. If we’re lucky, we’ll also get a couple of new photos or even a teaser to go along with it. The one reason we’re a little bit doubtful on the latter is because Netflix didn’t release much video footage until reasonably close to when the season premiered.
