The Bachelor 2018: Are Peter Kraus, Dean Unglert only contenders?

Bachelor 2018

Sometimes, there are challenges when it comes to casting The BachelorWith Peter Kraus and Dean Unglert this time, there’s probably not.

At the moment, these two #1 and #2 in our personal power rankings as to who will become the next lead of the show, and we don’t actually think that it’s all that close when you look at the rest of the field of contenders. Peter is the obvious fan favorite on Twitter — he’s smart, passionate, caring, and he also looks the part in terms of all the muscles. He’s one of those guys who ABC wouldn’t even have to hire a personal trainer for in advance given that he could everything himself. Dean’s been a little bit more of a surprise in that he didn’t have the best start ever when he arrived during the After the Final Rose special, but since that time he’s really won us over and he’s shown to be smart, likable, funny, and sensitive at times.

Here’s how we see this shaking down — if Peter wants the job, Peter gets it. If Peter’s engaged to Rachel Lindsay at the end of this, we see Dean getting it.

What about Bryan Abasolo? He has a lot of qualifications in terms of being smart and successful, but he feels almost like an Shawn Booth, a guy who’s great for The Bachelorette and a smart pick for the lead, but not someone who really needs their own show. Shawn already had his match, and based on what we’ve seen from Bryan, he may already have it with Rachel.

Are there any super-underdog contenders?

We really liked Kenny, and with that it’d be fun to see him get a season that doesn’t have Lee contaminating it at every possible opportunity. Maybe you can make a similar argument about Eric Bigger right now.

Unfortunately, the two remaining guys in the top six that we haven’t mentioned in Matt and Adam somehow just stumbled their way this far and really aren’t all that interesting. People who are The Bachelor, save for maybe Juan Pablo Galavis and Jake Pavelka, tend to get a ton of airtime the first time that they are on the show. With Juan Pablo ABC reacted more towards their enthusiastic fan base wanting more of him, whereas with Jake they must’ve just liked his job and that he seemed like he’d be a good choice for the show. (Either way, it’s rather ironic that these two ended up being some of the worst Bachelors we’ve seen.)

Should it be Peter, or should it be Dean?

One way or another, we want you to share your thoughts on this subject in the attached poll below!
