Stitchers season 3 episode 5 spoilers: Maggie returns!
For the time being, though, let’s get back to Maggie and what her return means. For Cameron, it means effectively that he can step down from his position running the lab and take more of a back seat. He doesn’t have to oversee stitch operations anymore, and that is almost certainly a good thing when it comes to handling his relationship with Kirsten. It’s not all that great a thing that he had to worry about protecting her while also running the lab at the same time. Consider it a conflict of interest — it’s not that he was a terrible boss (far from it really), but this can complicate things significantly when you have to give orders to someone who is romantically your equal.
The conversation between Maggie and Cameron is mostly fascinating in terms of the subject matter. It evolves quickly into the contents of her safe, which Cameron was rather-easily able to unlock. All of this comes back to one key question that originates from within: Who is responsible for choosing the cases for the lab to take on? It is these cases that allow Kirsten the opportunity to prove her abilities, and give her a chance to eventually help save her mother. But, everything has an originating point, and this is something Cameron would like further information on.
Alas, in this preview Maggie doesn’t have a whole lot to offer him.
What’s coming beyond this?
Based on the information that we’ve seen so far, episode 3×05 could be essential when it comes to the mythology of Kirsten’s parents, and their story will come more into the forefront after being scaled back over the past few weeks since the premiere. (The only real highlight we got about this last week was hearing about her desire to start mapping out different parts of the brain to get to her endgame faster.)
The synopsis below gives you more in the wake of specifics on what’s ahead — and also further insight on a different parent in Cameron’s for a change.
“Cameron’s estranged father, currently serving time in prison for white collar crimes, is accused of murdering a prison guard. Going against protocol, Kirsten stitches into the guard’s memory for clues and learns that Cameron’s father has been blackmailed for years by the lead investigator on his original case.”
