Power season 4 episode 2 reaction: Boss on Ghost & Angela’s ‘testimony’

Ghost & Angela

Tonight, Power season 4 episode 2 contained a wide array of different important scenes, but some of course stand out more than others. At the end of the episode tonight, Starz aired a new video featuring executive producer Courtney King talking about the standout moments, the ones that you are going to remember for reasons both good and bad.

Take a look at some of her quotes / commentary from the short segment, with our commentary included, below.

On the idea of the story this episode, complete with all of the subtle movement leading up to the trial – “You got the audience at a certain level of expectation and now you need to keep going … We really wanted to explore this idea of pre-trial motions, and all of the evidence people try to get [excluded away] before it gets to the jury.”

Some of this evidence tonight included the gun being located at the nightclub Truth, plus also reminders of the DNA that was under Greg’s fingernails. There are many damning pieces of evidence, but some of it — including the gun placement — is a little obvious. Angela has gotta figure out how much of that she’s willing to ignore just for the sake of trying to put Ghost away in the near future.

On the scenes simulating Ghost and Angela having to testify – “The audience is dying to see Angela questioned about this relationship. They’re dying to see Ghost actually [go] through what that looks like.”

If this actually happens on the show, it’d be absolutely insane entertainment.

On the path of Tommy Egan this season – “Tommy’s journey this season is trying to do the right thing. When things come up and really hurt him, he’s gotta blow off steam. The first time he blows off steam, he goes and sleeps with LaKeisha. This is a bad idea, this is Tasha’s best friend, and he does it anyway. They’re both really vulnerable.”

Of course, since when does Tommy always do the right thing? The biggest service that he could provide moving forward this season is as some sort of positive mentor to Tariq, who so badly needs one. We just need to wait in order to figure out if this is something that will materialize and Tommy can put all of his baggage to the side long enough in order for this to properly happen.

King also explains that the car scene is one of his favorites of the entire season, and she praised Joseph Sikora for being able to play being so violent “while having a good time.” Consider this another example of Tommy enjoying having that baggage too much to let it go?
