Bachelor in Paradise 4 will address production shutdown

production shutdownFor those wondering, the production shutdown during Bachelor in Paradise 4 will be a part of the season’s story. Maybe it won’t be a primary push in the narrative (this is a show about romance rather than an encounter so explicit it led to the main cast being sent home), but it isn’t going to be ignored altogether when the show returns in August.

So how will production handle it? What we know is that per Entertainment Weekly, the show will make it clear that the show’s original cast were sent home and that an incident happened. Beyond that, including how much of the first few days of filming is shown, things are still unclear. Here is what a source had to say:

“They’re real people with real feelings, so we’re not going to do anything that is egregious or hurtful, but we’ll certainly address the fact that the principal cast had to be sent home and come back.”

The “egregious or hurtful” claim is a little strange given some of the unfair edits that this franchise has given in the past, but this is clearly a serious situation because of the claims that were tossed around out there. To date, neither DeMario Jackson nor Corinne Olypmios are set to return to the series; DeMario has already spoken out to the media about his side of the story, but Corinne has been silent beyond a brief statement that she released saying that she was a “victim” in what happened. That is a story that we could continue to see play out within the weeks to come.

For now, the best thing that Bachelor in Paradise can do is touch on what happened as opposed to ignoring it altogether, and then finding a way to push things forward. We know that there are many changes that are happening behind the scenes with the franchise to better ensure contestant safety, including monitoring more closely the amount of alcohol consumed and then also the amount of sexual encounters. It may be more invasive than in the past, but when incidents happen, it does call for some change.

For now, just be sure to head over to the link here for additional updates, given that this is likely far from the end of this story. (Photo: ABC.)
