Josh Charles joins Law and Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the eight-episode installment of the anthology series is described as a “gripping in-depth dramatization” of the famous murder case that took America by storm in the early 1990s. The Menendez murders details two brothers who murdered their parents in Beverly Hills on August 20, 1989. The series will dive into the players, the crime and the media circus, while showing the audience the day-to-day battles of the trial and unveiling the shocking truth of what really went down behind closed doors.
Josh Charles is set to play Dr. Jerome Oziel, the Menendez brothers’ controversial psychiatrist who holds a significant role in the case.
The anthology series also stars Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Gus Harper, Miles Gaston Villanuena, Chris Bauer, Cliff Chamberlain, Lolita Davidovich, Anthony Edwards (ER), Carlos Gomez, Heather Graham, Sam Jaeger (Parenthood), Constance Marie (Switched at Birth), Julianne Nicholson (The Good Wife), and Elizabeth Reaser (the Twilight series).
The show reunites Charles with two of his previous love interests, played by Nicholson and Reaser, from The Good Wife during his five-season run on the five-time Emmy award-winning show.
Since Charles left the show back in 2014, he has had recurring roles on Masters of Sex, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Inside Amy Schumer. Josh Charles is next set to appear in Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later. He has also starred in Freeheld and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, along side Tina Fey.
The series was ordered to series last July with Rene Balcer serving as showrunner and executive producer. Lesli Linka will direct several episodes and serve as an executive with Dick Wolf, Peter Jankowski, and Arthur W. Forney. Universal Television will produce with Wolf Films.
Law and Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders is set to premiere Tuesday, September 26, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
