The Mist episode 2, episode 3 streaming via Spike app, website
In a post on Twitter (see below), Spike made it clear that they are putting both episode 2 and episode 3 of the adaptation online early in order to check them out. Provided that you’ve got the means to authenticate yourself, you can view them either on the Spike app or the official website (link in the tweet).
Why do this? The simplest answer that we can offer is that someone over at the network has likely done the necessary research to realize just how important binge-watching is to the success of a show at this point. People love to do it, and Spike does certainly want to get people hooked enough on the show that they will stick around with it the whole season. If they watch one episode tonight, maybe there’s a slight chance they will; if they watch three episodes over the first couple of days, they may be hooked by the end of that. Maybe this is Spike trying to pull some psychology on its viewers, but it definitely could end up working for them. Even if it hurts the ratings in the immediate future, this could work out for them in the long run.
There aren’t too many official details out there right now regarding the future of The Mist in terms of synopses, but the trailer below does give you a pretty good sense of everything atmospheric, creepy, and exciting. The show is going to make the most of its central mystery, but in the process freak you out. Given that this is an adaptation that’s not trying to be necessarily linear, don’t just assume that you know everything that’s coming because of the books. This is going to be its own journey, and based on the trailer, it could be an exciting one.
