The X Factor UK: Why Simon Cowell kept judging panel the same
While continuously changing judging panels year after year is the sort of thing that draws headlines, it’s rarely good for a show unless the current panel is a disaster. Remember that familiarity and chemistry-building are the primary reasons in which these sort of shows work. If you opt against doing that, one of the things you run the risk of doing is tanking your show. If your judging panel doesn’t work, there’s a good chance that nobody will end up watching. This almost happened with several panels over the years. This group is stable, and for the most part fun. It takes a little of the drama out of the far-too-serious competition, and that more or less is for the best.
In explaining more of what the judges were all brought back this year for another go, a source had the following to say per The Sun:
“The chemistry was perfect last year, so it’s only natural to want to bring the same line-up together again.
“It’s usually hard to get people’s schedules to align but for the first year it has worked out. The judges can’t wait to get started and have already been gossiping behind the scenes.”
While the judging panel is often what convinces viewers to tune in to a give program, there are still some other things that will need to be taken care of in regards to this show — namely, they need to find some quality talent. This is what makes the world go round with the X Factor universe; without it, the show isn’t anywhere near worth watching on the same level that it is otherwise. It certainly does need a big star to come out of it, given that it’s been a while since a winner broke out on the level of a Little Mix or a Leona Lewis.
