American Gods season 2 premiere date: When will it air?
The first thing worth doing within this article is confirming the sole fact that there will be a new American Gods season, and that there is no precise episode order set for it. Our sentiment is that it will probably not be less than the eight episodes you had during season 1; our dream scenario would be ten, given that eight is awfully short for a scripted series and there is so much story that still needs to be told here.
The larger question for this article should be the premiere date, given that with premium cable these days, there are no guarantees to get new episodes one year removed from when the previous season premiered. While Starz is able to have that consistency with power, there are no guarantees of such things here. Bryan Fuller and Michael Green likely want the time necessary to plot out the story, and also the lengthy post-production that is probably required in order to ensure that all of these episodes end up being as beautiful as they should be.
Back when the renewal was announced, Starz’s own programming president Carmi Zlotnik had the following to say:
“Bryan Fuller, Michael Green and Neil Gaiman have evolved the art form of television narratively, structurally and graphically with American Gods, and we’re thrilled to be working again with these artists as they continue to build the worlds and wars of the gods.”
This is one of those series that, per early estimations, could go on as long as the powers-that-be allow it to be so. The live ratings for it are extremely deceptive, given that these episodes are available early for people with the Starz app and they’re also recorded heavily. Just in terms of live viewers alone, the show is averaging over 700,000 an episode. By the time the final numbers are calculated here, this is a show with an overall audience of millions and most importantly, it likely brings viewers to the network. Subscriptions are what matters the most to Starz.
